High Wycombe has no rink this Christmas. The nearest real ice opens at Reading on 7 November, Windsor on 13 November and Stoke Mandeville on 20 November.

High Wycombe has no ice rink this Christmas. There is no permanent rink in the town and no organiser has announced a seasonal one for 2026. The nearest real ice comes from three pop-up rinks that have all confirmed their dates: Reading Winter Wonderland from Saturday 7 November, Windsor On Ice from Friday 13 November and Chiltern View Ice Rink at Stoke Mandeville from Friday 20 November. All three are covered, so the weather does not stop a session, and all three include skate hire in the ticket.

Is there an ice rink in High Wycombe?

No. We checked the town centre’s own channels, High Wycombe BIDCo and its MyWycombe site, on 6 October: neither has announced a rink, and their newest news posts are about the town’s business awards. If a rink is announced for the town, or for the Christmas lights switch-on, we will add it here.

One listings site says Princes Risborough will have a one-off rink at its Christmas lights switch-on on 28 November. We could not confirm that: the town council’s own page for the switch-on, read on 6 October, gives the date (Saturday 28 November, 3pm to 6pm, High Street) but says the event details are still to be confirmed. Our Christmas lights page will carry the programme when the council publishes it.

Chiltern View, Stoke Mandeville: from 20 November

The rink at Chiltern View Garden Centre, Wendover Road, Stoke Mandeville, HP22 5GX calls itself “Aylesbury’s only real ice rink”. It is under cover, and parking is free in the garden centre’s car park. From High Wycombe it is the straight run up the A4010 through Princes Risborough.

  • Dates: Friday 20 November 2026 to Tuesday 5 January 2027, closed on Christmas Day.
  • Opening night, 20 November, 6pm to 9pm: a “Through the Wardrobe on Ice” launch hosted by BBC Three Counties Radio’s Andy Collins with Strictly professional Luba Mushtuk, with an LED ice show, a Luther Vandross tribute and Narnia characters. Tickets are £25 to £35 and include a drink and canapés. Skating that night is first come, first served.
  • Normal sessions: 40 minutes on the ice, from £10. Arrive 30 minutes before your slot to be fitted for boots. The rink does not post tickets; bring the order email.
  • Rules: under 13s must skate with an adult. Tickets cannot be refunded or exchanged. Skating aids for children are booked separately and are limited. The rink recommends head protection for children.
  • Contact: email only, info@chilternviewicerink.co.uk. The rink asks people not to ring the garden centre, which cannot help with bookings.

  • 28 November, 10am to 6pm; 29 November, 10am to 4pm; 30 November, 12 noon to 6pm.

The rink warns that private bookings can change these times, so check the booking page before you go. Evening extras run from 6pm to 9pm: drag bingo on 29 November and 6 and 13 December, an ABBA tribute on 11 December and a 2Tone night on 20 December.

Windsor On Ice: from 13 November

Windsor On Ice is in Alexandra Gardens, Barry Avenue, Windsor, SL4 3HY, by the river below the castle, with a funfair beside the rink. The main rink is fully covered.

  • Dates: the rink’s home page says it is open “from Friday the 13th of November until the 3rd of January”. The same page also carries a banner reading “26th November - 2nd January”, which does not fit its own Tiny Tuesdays sessions on 17 and 24 November. Check your date on the booking site before you set your heart on mid-November.
  • Hours: 12 noon to 9pm on weekdays and 10am to 9pm at weekends outside the school Christmas holidays, then 10am to 9pm daily, except Christmas Day. The funfair opens at 4pm on weekdays and 11am at weekends outside the holidays.
  • Prices on the rink’s ticket site on 6 October: adult £17, child (17 and under) £15, family ticket (one adult and three children, or two and two) £56, four adults £64, each plus a £1.50 booking fee.
  • Sessions last 45 minutes; arrive 15 to 20 minutes early to collect skates. Skates run from children’s size 7 to adult size 15, and you can bring your own.
  • Age rules: the minimum age is four, and under 12s must be with a parent or carer.
  • Tiny Tuesdays (17 and 24 November, 1, 8 and 15 December, sessions at 10am, 11am, 12 noon and 1pm) have no minimum age and a maximum of eight; one adult goes free with each paying child (£15), and penguin and snowman skate aids are free.
  • All Access Wednesdays are set aside for disabled skaters: £15 plus a £1 booking fee, with carers free.
  • Refunds: none unless the rink is forced to close, but bookings can be moved to another date.

Getting there: the rink’s directions page points drivers to the pay and display car park off Alma Road, next to the gardens, and street parking on Barry Avenue. Windsor & Eton Central (change at Slough) and Windsor & Eton Riverside are both a short walk away.

Reading Winter Wonderland: from 7 November

Reading Winter Wonderland is at Hills Meadow, George Street, Reading, RG4 8DH, on the north bank of the Thames. It is free to enter; you pay for the rink, the rides and the grotto.

  • Dates: its home page reads “Open 7th November - 3rd January”. The booking page still carries last year’s wording (8 November to 4 January), so trust the dated home page and the booking calendar.
  • The rink: real ice, enlarged this year to 560 square metres, under a 900 square metre clear dome, with seal and penguin skate aids. The FAQ prices the aids at £5 a session.
  • Price: skating prices are on the booking site only. The home page offers a four-hour unlimited ride wristband for £24, with skating added for £5 more.
  • Hours in the organisers’ FAQ: Monday to Friday 3pm to 10pm, weekends 11am to 10pm, and 11am to 10pm daily from 15 December.
  • Parking: pay and display on site. Small dogs on leads are allowed.

Which rink should I choose?

  • For toddlers: Windsor’s Tiny Tuesdays are the only sessions at any of the three with no minimum age, and the adult goes free.
  • For free parking: Chiltern View is the only one of the three with a free car park.
  • For a full evening out: Reading stays open until 10pm every day and has a funfair and German bar; Windsor runs to 9pm.
  • For the cheapest session: Chiltern View, from £10.
